Vengara Residence was one of the most challenging yet fascinating project of our architecture fraternity. The residence is nestled in lush coconut plantation in Malappuram district of Kerala with a total site area of 2.52 acers and spread massing of 13500sqft built area.

The concept behind the project was to reimagine a living in the embrace of nature fostering direct connection with outdoors while creating best possible experience for the inhabitants. Design approaches primarily focuses on creating a fusion of Aristocrat style with contemporary features providing limitless opportunities for the users to thrive in.An interplay of voids and volumes has been used well within the design, this creates a decent porosity with the building making it one of its kind.

The two storeyed residence has 7 bedrooms, royal dining as well as a family dining along with meeting spaces and conference areas. The design is also extended providing all the amenities for the workers. The grand residence would blend and harmonize within the context.

A detailed zoning has been done to differentiate the entire space for the users. The zoning includes public and private zones. The public zone includes a formal living space, outdoor lounge, prayer room, meeting areas. As the residence is having defined spaces for the public users a detailed private zone has been made for all the users of the residence which includes separate entrance for ladies and kids, direct parking lounge entrance, family dining, prayer rooms.

The grouns floor hosts communal spaces, living, dining and meetings rooms that entwine with nature. The first floor has a total of 5 bedrooms and the ground floor has 2 which includes master bedroom and guest bedroom this also ensures the privacy for the residents.The transition between the public and private areas of the house is catered professionally without creating a specific visual narrative.

The design primary interventions in the residence includes opea areas, pond, volumes voids interconnection and lighting. The residence stands as a solid block within the context. The lighting is also carefully considered, fhe the quality of light in the common areas changes throughout the day. Trees and other flowering species are braided into the exisiting flora which densifys the greenary.
